Accessibility at Pet’s Eye View
At Pet’s Eye View, we believe that every member of our community deserves a seat at the table (or a spot on the rug). We know firsthand that everyone navigates the world a little differently, and we are committed to making our digital home as welcoming and easy to navigate as a walk in the park.
Our Vision for Inclusion
Our goal is to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. Just as we advocate for the well-being of pets, we advocate for a web experience that is accessible to people of all abilities, ensuring our site is easy to navigate for everyone.
How We’re Grooming Our Site
We are constantly working behind the scenes to clear any hurdles. Our current focus includes:
- Clear Paths: Ensuring the site is fully navigable via keyboard for those who don’t use a mouse.
- High Visibility: Maintaining strong color contrast and clear text so everything is easy to read.
- Screen Reader Friendly: Adding meaningful descriptions to our images and using clear headings so assistive technology can deliver context accurately.
- Thoughtful Design: Keeping our layouts simple and predictable to reduce frustration.
Work in Progress
Even the best-trained pups have off days. You may find some “ruff” edges in older blog posts or third-party tools that we are still working to housebreak. If you run into a barrier, we want to know about it so we can fix it.
We’re Here to Help
If you’re having trouble accessing anything on our site, please reach out. We’re here to help you get the information you need in a way that works for you.
- Email: kara@petseyeview.com with the title ‘Accessibility’
- Response Time: We’ll do our best to get back to you within 48 hours.
When you write to us, it’s helpful to know:
- Where you ran into a snag (the page URL).
- What happened (e.g., “The menu wouldn’t open with my keyboard”).
- What tools you’re using, if any (like a screen reader or voice control).
Always Improving
Accessibility isn’t a one-time trick – it’s a lifelong commitment. We’re constantly learning and evolving to make sure Pet’s Eye View remains a place where everyone feels at home.
